Liverpool 1-2 Arsenal...
Some weekends, the footballing Gods, let Spurs win, us lose, Chelsea and Man United fluke late winners, and half our players get injured. This weekend, the footballing Gods, decided it was about time we got a slice of the good action. Man U - Lost. Liverpool - Lost (to us) Spurs - Lost, and Chelsea and Man City both dropped points. Then Sunday throws up a hard game for us, which we only went and won putting us right back into the mixer at the right end of the table.
An early goal for Liverpool saw us go behind, but Sir Wenger worked his magic at half time, gave the kids a rollicking and out they came and turned things around. An own goal from Glen Johnson followed by an absolute screamer from Arshavin to take all three points and rocket us back up the league. If we could win our game in hand, we will go above Man United and right back up on Chelsea's historyless heels...
Interesting article that reckons Sir Arsene Wenger could lead a campaign which could lead to Chelsea having points deducted...
Oh, Jay Simpson...
...is apparently being offered as a makeweight in a deal to bring QPR's highly rated youngster Raheem Sterling to the Emirates. Other clubs sniffing around include Man United and City, Fulham and Liverpool...
Compo for Wenger...?
Sir Wenger is apparently after compensation for the injured Robin van Persie, but the Dutch FA are having none of it. RVP was injured against Italy in a friendly in November, and Sir Wenger confirmed that the Arsenal lawyers are looking into it.
He said: "We are working on this with our lawyers at the moment and we are definitely going for it. I expect financial compensation for the damage it can make to the championship and the salary involved. It is especially frustrating to lose your players for the rest of the season in a friendly game..."
Wenger is also unhappy about the wrong diagnosis of the injury...
PS anyone else notice that after yesterday, our title bid is now in our own hands...
